What is the Eucharist? The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” “The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1324).
“The Eucharist is the efficacious sign and sublime cause of that communion in the divine life and that unity of the People of God by which the Church is kept in being. It is the culmination both of God’s action sanctifying the world in Christ and of the worship men offer to Christ and through him to the Father in the Holy Spirit” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1325).
The celebration of the Eucharist is commonly called the Mass or "Holy Mass (Missa), because the liturgy in which the mysteryof salvation is accomplished concludes with the sending forth (missio)of the faithful, so that they may fulfill God’s will in their daily lives" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1332).

El Sacramento de la Santísima Eucaristía y la Primera Comunión
¿Qué es la Eucaristía? La Eucaristía es “fuente y culmen de la vida cristiana”. “Los demás sacramentos, e incluso todos los ministerios eclesiásticos y las obras de apostolado, están vinculados a la Eucaristía y a ella se ordenan. Porque en la sagrada Eucaristía se contiene todo el bien espiritual de la Iglesia, es decir, Cristo mismo, nuestra Pascua” (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, 1324).
“La Eucaristía es el signo eficaz y la causa sublime de la comunión en la vida divina y de la unidad del Pueblo de Dios por la que se mantiene viva la Iglesia. Es la culminación tanto de la acción de Dios que santifica el mundo en Cristo como del culto que los hombres ofrecen a Cristo y, por medio de él, al Padre en el Espíritu Santo” (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, 1325).
La celebración de la Eucaristía se denomina comúnmente Misa o «Santa Misa (Missa)», porque la liturgia en la que se realiza el misterio de la salvación concluye con el envío (missio) de los fieles para que cumplan la voluntad de Dios en su vida diaria (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, 1332).
