I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me. Matthew 25:36
The Shut-In Ministry's purpose is to help meet the spiritual needs of the members of Our Lady of Sorrows Church that are unable to attend Sunday services or any other church services.
The faithful who are ill or elderly are deprived of their rightful and accustomed place in the Eucharistic community. In bringing communion to them, the Minister of communion represents Christ and manifests faith and charity on behalf of the whole community toward those who cannot be present at the Eucharist.
The reception of communion is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian community for its members not being able to attend Church services.
As the Lord Jesus Christ repeatedly demonstrated His love and concern for the sick and infirm so we at Our Lady of Sorrows desire to follow His example by letting our "Shut-Ins" know that they are cared for and still an important part of the Body of Christ.
We have 16 Eucharistic Shut-In Ministers and 90 Shut-In's. We seek brothers and sisters that have spiritual gifts in the areas of serving and giving. We always have room for more people to volunteer, so come join us!
